Formula field in CR8 behaving erratically for Japanese char

We had CR6 templates having Japanese characters in formula field.We have upgraded our reports from CR6 to CR8. The reports are printed from a server having DLLs of Crystal Reports. The reports which was working fine and printing fine from server with CR6 is now not printing the Japanese chars properly. We tried replacing the CR6 DLLs with CR8 dlls, but to no avail. The same report template is working fine in another server having CR8 dlls. However, the CR8 templates having only english chars are working fine in both the server. Can anyone help? Is this a DLL issue or something else?
