Forms 6 installed on Oracle 8i

Hi,

Our DBA informs us that it is impossible to install Forms version 6 in a Oracle 8i home. It complains that the Oracle home is already being used and you can't put Forms 6 in there.

The DBA says that Oracle Forms version 6 will only work with Oracle 7.

Please could somebody give me some guidance on this?

Your DBA is right, though Forms 6i may also share home with 8.0. i's in 8i and 6i (and in fact in 9i) are different

Forms 6i and Designer 6i can share an Oracle home. But this must be different to the Oracle 8i home.

Oracle 8i and Forms 6i should have different home directory. And Forms 6i works very well with 8i at my computer for more than one year

i worjk with forms 6i connect to oracle 9i2, apllication server etc...... very well !!!

you'd better install Oracle 8i and form 6i in different
directory,and use different oracle_home

or you will meet some problem you can't find the resolution

and you can't deploy the form on the web
