Formmail

Hi All, can anyone please help me with this. I have set up a form that was using a formmail.cgi from another website but I would ideally like to set up my own one as the one I am presently using seems to just go to the copyright page now and nothing is actioned (even though I have not changed any settings for this)

I have followed a rough guide from Hypermart and put the Formmail.cgi in the correct folder and uploaded it with settings 755. But when I try to access the page I get this is forbidden and the page cannot be displayed? I was wondering if anyone has any ideas why
1. THe current page setup I have has stop working and
2. Why I cant get formmail to work on my hypermart account.

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

First and foremost, *don't* use MSA's formmail, as it's a known tool that allows your CGI server to be used as an email relay, which results in a lot of spam being sent from your site and a lot of angry responses to your admin. (IF you review your site's error log, you may have noticed the number of people spcieifcally looking for formmail.pl. That's a pretty big hint for the security conscious.)

Instead, take a look at a replacement version that's not only better written, but it's been designed to prevent such an attack. Plus, the installation documentation is far superior.

Please do yourself a favor by pre-emptively preventing future headaches and check it out.

Hi,

FormMail 1.92 has the security problem fixed using the same method as they do in the nms version.

I have also developed an advancment on formail which allows you to send a reply with an attachment.

Also you will find a handy utility int the zip to help you configure FormMail or my wFormMail.
