formerly working PDFs not opening under Server 2003

Please help; am desperate for a solution! Formerly working pdfs in Server 2000 do not work now that we're transitioning to Server 2003. PDF files that contain embedded links--and only those PDFs with links, not "unlinked" PDFs--will not open now. I get an error message stating that the file is of Type "Adobe Acrobat Control for ActiveX" and prompting to either "open" the file or "save" it to my computer; then if you click on "Open" you get an error message stating that the requested site is either unavailable or can't be found.

Like I said, all of these docs/pdfs were working fine on 2000. We can't find a solution anywhere....please let me know if you've heard of anything (Go live scheduled for Monday, May 3)!!
