ok so there is probably a really easy solution to this... i have a container report and 2 subreports. the container report is grouped on one field and one subreport is grouped on one field.
when the report is run tbere are large gaps before large chunks of data that is making the report many pages longer than it needs to be.
I have unchecked all of the "keep together" boxes in section expert and checked all the groups for "keep groups together." ive tried suppressing group and report headers and footers...nothing works!
i am using crystal xi

Check for white space in design mode for both the main report and the subreport. Suppress all unwanted sections, and also in the section expert, check "suppress blank section" for each section.

Also, right click on the subreport->format subreport->subreport tab->check "suppress blank subreport".

Ido - is that somewhere different that the section expert?

To clarify, select the subreport->format subreport->common tab->uncheck "keep object together".
