Formatting a 2005 Dell Laptop HD in Windows XP Home, the drive may possibly have some errors, but I was previously lead to belive those errors were at the beginning of the drive (around %5, which is also hung up @ for an hour+), it then hung up @ 69% for a few hours, and is now @70% for atleast 5-6 hrs and won't move. Is there anything I can do? Does this mean I just need a new HD?
TIA,
K

The best way around the problem is to start over with fdisk and limit the partition to about 66% of the available drive size. That will limit your hard drive size but will avoid the problems at 69% and 70%.

Thank you! Hadn't thought of that.

Probably. Ed's solution might allow the PC to work for now, but I would not hold out hope that it will last over the long haul. Laptop drives are very inexpensive now, if you're taking the time to reconfigure a system then might as well get a new drive and not have to do it all over again in a few weeks or months.
