There is nothing in the Report Header.

In the Page Header I print a check with Name, Address, Check Amount, etc. This is the top section of my report.

In the Section Header I print a check detail summary heading with the name and address. This begins the middle section of the report.

In the Detail section I list 3 fields that are part of a variable number of records that give the detail behind the check amount. Currently the 3 columns print a variable number of rows.

In the Section Footer I have a page break.

The report prints fine printing the check, and detail header and the detail.

I have two problems I have been unable to solve.

Problem 1: I would like to print the detail in 2 columns of 3 fields. I have tried the Page Setup Columns tab but that affects the whole page. I only want to have the detail section print in columns in a down, then across fashion with the number of rows evenly or almost evenly split. Can this be done?

Problem 2: If I solve problem 1 then I need to be able to repeat the 2nd summary/detail section in a third section. Every option I have tried did not work. I really need help.

Thanks for any ideas.

Kyle

I haven't eperimented with this but you might try putting your detail section and summary in subreports. You can ofcourse print the subreport twice for the summary, this should work fine. And for the detail use columns in the subreport, this I don't know if it will work. But mebbe worth a try. "The Key, The Whole Key, and Nothing But The Key, So Help Me Codd!"

I gave it a try but no matter which combination of features I use there is always a flaw that keeps it from working. The closest I got was when I set the subreport fields to not grow with the page margins on the subreport set to a small window. It would then split it into columns but each column only had one record of data that repeated again and again. Looked good but the data wasn't accurate. I've tried working with the margins to control the printing, working with the size of the page footer but nothing has worked. I don't have high hopes for being able to accomplish this format so it looks like compromise time. Thanks for your effort.
