Is there a way to use color background and/or color text on the spreadsheet tabs in Excel?

I know it's NOT possible in Excel '97.

I don't believe I've yet seen any reports of any change to this in later versions.

Hopefully someone with the LATEST version of Excel will report on this.

Given that "ancient" versions of Lotus 123 had this capability, it "just might be time" for Microsoft to consider adding this.

Excel 2002 does support this overdue feature. You can apply a background color from the workbook palette. If necessary Excel will change the text color so that is visible.
