I Have a word document which has records in the following format:

LLY Suzannah Ackerley
Henrys Hill, Kirklinton, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA6 6EA
Tel: 01228 675 230
FHR Charles R S Adams
Linden Lea, Mayfield, Nr Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 2JU
Tel: 01335 342 954

The patern is always line 1= Name line 2=address line 3=telephone number.

Could anyone give me some advice on how I would make these into columns so I have one row per record??

Many thanks Mark

Possibilities:

1. Send your file to a data conversion service or hire a programmer to write a software application to convert the file. It would be very easy to write such a program. Tell the service to "tab-delimit" the fields.

2. Create a macro in Word to replace the first two end-of-line characters (paragraph marks) in each name with tab characters and skip the third end-of-line.

Once the address and phone are delimited with tab characters, you can convert the list to a word table with name in the first column, address in second column, and telephone in the third column.
