formatting a text field

I'm formatting a text field to currency in a report. I'm geting the value of the text field from a function i've made. lets say the value i'm returning is 36.958585 i want to format the value to currency. When the report opens there is no value that appears. When i go in design view and the in form view i see the proper values.Weird

Any suggestions??
