Hey all,

What is the best way to default a G3? by this i mean keeping the existing software version but removing all programming (extensions, trunks, card settings, etc..)

Also, is there anyway that the Flash card can be read by an external device such as a laptop? Since it is a PCMCIA interface I thought this might be possible. I cannot find any drivers however for the flash card, i believe it is an INTEL series 2.

thanks

Question 1 - defaulting a G3 without losing the software version - is possible depending on the version. Back in the "old" versions, the software was flashed into an EPROM on the processor board, and the flash card only held the translations. With those older versions, you could reboot the system with out the flashcard and have a "clean" system. I know this worked through some of the V6 versions, but I do not know at what version they moved the software over to the flash card. From that point on, this method will not work.

Question 2 - can the flash card be read by an external device - no, no device that I'm aware of. The cards are formatted for the Definity and are proprietary to Avaya. There may be some secret device out in the Avaya developement group or programming lab that will do this, but I've never heard of one.
