Formatting a data base field which is an array in a report

Hi !
My problem is this:

I have a data base field which is defined as an array. When I put this field into a report it reserves the full number of lines, regardless the amount of data in the array.

In a large report this means a lot of wasted space. I have tried to use the format field option to no avail, as it does'nt seem that CR accepts formatting of array fields.

Any sugggestions ?
