Hi,
I have an hard disk that has been formatted and I would like to know if it's possible to find out the date when it was last formatted.

Thanks in advance.

not that I am aware of. since format creates no files, there is no reference to a date to check.

Even when you format a hard drive, it leaves references and a proof of that is that you can recover your formatted data. So my question remains.

depends on how you format if data is left behind. but just because data can be recovered, nothing is created so no time stamp on any data is created, if you recover the drive to see data, it will give that date I would think since it was the last date that a file was changed. I am not sure what gets written to the maintenence track on the drive, nor do I know of a tool to read it, but that might be a place to start looking on google.why do you need to know the date it was formatted? format today and you will know the date, and write it down.
