I know this probably very simple!

How do a format a new tape to use with Back-up exec.
I have replaced some of my old media, but Back-exec does not seem to like it. I receive an error un-recongizable media. I am using a DDS3 tape with a DDS3 drive.

I can not seem to find any options for tape formating ??

Advice is needed ?

run an inventory and then erase. dds drives do not support the format command. you should look for "quick" erase in Backup Exec

Go to the DEVICES tab and right click on your tape drive. Inventory and then erase.

I am new to Veritas backup software.
I am using veritas backup exe 9.0 of windows 2003 server.

I am not able to take backup into new tapes.

When I insert new tape. and try to run my backup job ,after some time the tape is ejecting and asking to insert writable Tape.

Can some one help to able how to use backup exec 9.0 version.

Thanks,
Ram
