I am new to Crystal Reports. I have a datasource that is a sql server db. In one of the table fields I have an xml document, the other fields just have regular data. I am having trouble figuring out how to format that one field on the report so that the data in the xml doc shows as a list of items. It just shows the raw xml doc.

thanks
nicole

Try to at least post your Crystal version, the version of your software generally matters when requesting technical information.

The XML field may have to be parsed out as a seperate data source. XML is hip, but it's a pain and not as efficient as a RDBMS stored data. Webheads and people who have never used XML find it useful because thy don't have to use a real database, but it generally makes life miserable for reporting.

When you state a "list of items", do you mean that you want it to display as fields for use by the report, or that you want a data dump of it, or?

You may be better served to expose this in a Stored Procedure as data.

Check out the "XML data, accessing" in the Crystal help file.
