Format mask

I'm trying to format a 10 digit phone number field in Form Builder. I want it to display: (999)999-9999. Under the properties palette for the text element I go to 'Format Mask' and type: "("999") "999"-"9999

This mask works for a form when it is 'tabular' style but not when it is 'form' style.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
