Connect as a single drive, reboot and set first boot device to cdrom, reboot again with you winblows XP in the drive so it and loads XP setup tools etc.
Go to install fresh copy of XP but just create and activate partition then shut down.
Reconnect as slave to your existing drive, reset first boot device to IDE 0.
It should now boot up and see new HD, simply right click and format the drive (NTFS preferably)

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.
Agreed, Paparazi, no need to jump through hoops with XP.
Another way is to go to Start > Admin Tools, Computer Management, disk management, and right click on the drive in the right hand pane. Cheers,
Jim
