Form

I created a form that would collect and forward information to me on my FP website. But I get the error messages about lack FP extensions. Does that mean I dont have them loaded or the server thats hosting my websites doesnt have them loaded.

Possibly both. More than likely your web hosting provider does not support them. If they do you might have to request the extensions be added. Many of them make you 'sign' a waiver before they install them so you don't sue them WHEN the entensions screw something up.

There are many cool 'mailto' programs out there that are very easy to setup. Eventually you will outgrow the limited capability of FrontPage extensions and venture into CGI anyways, might as well do it now!

Take Mike's suggestion and use a script. He has some good ones so check out the site he listed.

Also, take a look at the FAQ on forms. Go back to the listing of questions, and click on the FAQ tab at the top.

Because so many people have trouble with forms in FrontPage I've installled a form creator. It produces very professional looking forms (also quizzes, surveys, etc.) and it is open to use by all. It may look a bit daunting only because of the number of options but there is a sample form installed when you sign up that you can use to build on easily. There are also instructions for FP users so that they can make the form page match the rest of their site. I also offer support for this. You can find it at:

The first two links are dead and when I made a testform and tried to export the data it gave me a blank page within the frame.. background not configured so i figure it was a page made on the fly.. but showing no results.

well spoken. except... for the primitives, like myself, who are using @home.com....
they do not allow you to use cgi scripts. (if they do, please tell me, as i haven't
gotten one to work). come to think of it, i haven't been able to get a .pl (perl)
script to work. but they can't stop you from using javascript (or any embedded html
language!) please let me know if you have this problem and if you resolved it!

This page will allow you to verify whether a particular server has FrontPage Server Extensions installed, as well as determine what web server software is being used. Keep in mind that an ISP/WPP may offer FrontPage extensions but may not have them installed on all servers.
