Is it possible to use the form web part to collect date from a user and store it in a custom list, as opposed to the standard use of simplying providing data to other web parts? I'm trying to do some simple info collection, and I'm trying to avoid having to write a custom web part for different forms.

Failing that, I suppose I have the option of using InfoPath for collecting information, since I know it has the ability to submit directly to a form library at the very least. The impression I get, however, is that a user would need to have InfoPath installed in order to fill out any forms which I create in InfoPath. This is less than desirable; I can see the look on my IT director's face already when I tell him that he's going to need to coordinate an installation of InfoPath on all our organization's machines.

What's the easiest way to whip up forms on the fly, and submit their data to a list or database?
