Using MS Access 2013

I want my users to be able to see two views for their form. Form view and Data sheet view. I know how to set this up and have done so. However, when they select View from the Home ribbon they can also select Design. I don't want them to be able to select design. Just Form View and Data Sheet view (I turned off Layout View). How do I turn off Design View?

I thought of just using buttons on the forms to switch to Data Sheet view..this works..but when I am in Data Sheet view I can't show a button to get back to Form View. So my user would have to use the View button on the Home ribbon. This would allow them to select design view also. Again, I don't want them to do that.

I don't have Access 2013, but I hear that it is very similar to 2010. In 2010, click on the top left corner of the form in design view. Open the properties for the form. For Allow Form View, make sure it's set to yes. Same for Allow Datasheet View. Set the other views to no.
Sorry if this is not how it's done in 2013.

Thanks for your post. I am looking at the properties screen now. I am very familiar with it, and here is what I see:

Under the Format Tab:
Default View - single form
Allow Form View - Yes
Allow Data Sheet View - Yes
Allow Layout View - No

This is all the views that can be set. Note: Allow "Design View" is not listed.

Do you see "Allow Design View in Yes/No" in your Access 10 program?

Have you considered creating an ACCDE? This is available in File Save As...

Not Yet. Is the ACCDE updatable? I will probably have more work to do in the DB. Also, I have split my DB. Will that cause a problem?

Finally, does the ACCDE restrict Design Views altogether? I am not really familiar with the ACCDE...as you can tell.

Would you mind taking a look at "Code not running because form has not finished closing" located in the VBA Forum? I have not had any feedback on it and I am hoping you have some ideas.

An ACCDE is recommended for all applications being deployed to others. It removes the ability to change the design of forms, reports, and code. Check out this link.

You can continue to work on your database and then make and ACCDE when you are ready to deploy. You will always have your ACCDB since it doesn't get overwritten by the ACCDE.

Thank you...and a split DB would just have the Front End set to ACCDE?
This bears serious consideration.

Yes, the front end has all of your code, forms, and reports so it doesn't make sense to do anything with your back end file.

The article states something about a password but I wouldn't use that unless you really wanted to protect the database.

I tried the ACCDE DB. It saved as ACCDE with no problem but when I opened the ACCDE DB it went to its start up routine and froze.

Here is the startup routing:
File - Options - Current Database - Display Form set to Startup_Dialog_Box

The OnOpen Event of the Startup_Dialog_Box runs a procedure. The procedure runs several set up queries. Then it closes the Startup_Dialog_Box form.
The On Close Event of the Startup_Dialog_Box Opens the Main User form. This all works as a standard DB.

But, when I save it as ACCDE the Startup_Dialog_Box opens but no code runs. I know this because the first line of the code (for testing purposes) is a Msg Box. This does not show.

Am I missing something? Maybe I don't know enough about the ACCDE application.

I've never had any issues with an accde not working. Did you make sure your code compiles?

Yes. I used Debug Compile and nothing wrong showed.

If this is true "I know this because the first line of the code (for testing purposes) is a Msg Box." have you tried removing the Msg Box?
