I am using MS Access 2010 which I suspect works in a similar way to the 2007 version. In the older versions of Access it was easy to ensure the GUI size of forms was as wanted. In the the newer versions I seem to have a lot of spare space to the right of the form and however hard I try to change the actual property size I don't seem to be able to get rid of what I would call redundant space. The attached file may show what I mean. Can anyone help please.

Sorry to say, but I don't have 07 or 10. Working on 03. I always use the bottom right corner and drag it in to size the form. Then I set the format properties to Auto Resize = Yes, Auto Center = Yes, and Border Style = Dialog. If that doesn't work, maybe you need Auto Resize = No.

Are all those options still available?

Hi Mondeoman,

Did you ever get a solution for this? If so, could you share it? It is very annoying.

Thanks

You can change the view/look and the ablility to change the size of the form window by selecting options under the file menu item. In the Access Options dialog box, click on the "Current Database" option on the left side. From the options presented, locate the "Document Window Options" and uncheck the "Display Document Tabs" check box and then select the "Overlapping Windows" option. Close this dialog box. You will be prompted that you need to close and reopen your database file for your changes to take effect. This will then show your form depending on the size formatted in you design view. I think this is another example of the frustrating changes MS has made to this programme.

When you reopen your database you will notice that now you have individual framed windows for each object.

Hope this helps.

dhookom,

I think you listed the question to wrong person.

The solution that mondeoman listed worked great for me. Thanks for the help. I agree just that this is just another frustrating change, another example of how they know better what the user wants then the user does.

Your welcome. I think if MS had given users the opportunity to return to classic options they would have gained more support.
