Form Locked in Access

I've designed a database in Access 2000. It has been working fine for the past two weeks. However, this morning when the database was opened, one of the forms seemed somehow locked.

No data could be updated within the form. No new records could be added using the form. The form has a table as its RowSource.

I've tried manually editting data within the table that is the source for the form. This works fine. The AllowEdits property of the form is set to Yes and the user can view the existing records just fine.

The database is not open in any other location. Shutting down and restarting Access had no effect. Restarting the machine had no effect. Compacting and repairing the database had no effect. Opening the database on another machine yields the same symptoms.

Can someone help me figure out what obvious thing I am missing? Thanks.

Update: I've fixed the symptom by changing the form's RecordSource to null, saving and then setting it back to the table. However, I would like to understand why this happened in the first place rather than just treat the symptom whenever it happens. Does anyone have any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas?

My initial thoughts are it was caused by Access 2000 being the buggiest version of MS Access I've ever used!

I've encoutered all kinds of weird little (and not so little) problems like this. My solution was to use A2K3 instead.

Ed Metcalfe.

How are ya VRoscioli . . .

One possibility is [blue]the associated .ldb locking file was not closed when the db was closed[/blue] (same diectory as the db).

Next time you have this problem close the db and see if it exists. A great many strange things can happen if it does . . .

See Ya! . . . . . .

Be sure to see FAQ219-2884:

I did check this when it occurred and it was not the case; no LDB file existed.
