Hello everyone!

Can anyone recommend a form handler I can use with Dreamweaver 3? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Adam

Not sure by what you mean by form handler. You can build simple forms in Dreamweaver and then use CGI/Perl, .asp, ColdFusion, PHP or whatever to get the form to talk to your server. What kind of form are you trying to build?

Thanks for your reply. You have an awesome web site! The bubbles in the corner are great!

I just want to put up a simple form for people to fill out on my web site. I know I can design one with Dreamweaver 3 but I need to have the info "processed" and sent to my email address. That's what I meant by form handler. Perhaps I meant a "commercial" form handler.

I don't have my own server, I don't know any programming code either. Thanks!

well the simplest way is to get used to a server script

asp, php, cfm etc

other than that try formmail [Hammer]

Thanks for the positive comments.

Ok, I take it that you want users to fill in some blanks and you want that mailed to you. Keep in mind that anything sent via smtp (email) is open for anyone to view - so you don't want sensitive data transmitted this way.

That aside, contact the company that is hosting your site. They should have 2 or 3 kinds of simple scripts that you can use to generate the email you are looking for. Their server will already be set up for it and you can just paste in the code they give you. If they don't offer this kind of basic service find another host. Peace

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it!

Hi Adam,

The difficulty of using the simple scripts available at your ISP is that quite frequently they are using a script which has the recipient field "hidden" on the web page. This then leaves you open to the email harvesters and you start getting spam. I've searched for months for the perfect SIMPLE form and yet to find it.

I eventually decided to bite the bullet and pay for a script (I hate programming and know almost anybody can do a better job than me - and if I paid for it I get something that works in all browsers, OS's, right? WRONG!) My ISP seems to have all sorts of non-standard features and the program I paid for (formprocessorpro from MitriDAT) works so erratically that I've lost half my hair! And a bald woman is NOT PRETTY.

Previously, I used Attachment Mailer from PerlScriptsJavaScripts.com (also paid for) and this works except the field names get sorted into alpha order! Nerd thing to do.

I'm now waiting on Ennyforms but the website says it's still in testing phase. Anyway - a simple form which might do what you want is Alienform - I haven't tried it, so don't really know. If you just need a non-commercial form (free) you could try IRMA - or you could do a search for form processing or free scripts - maybe you'll have more luck than me.

Jill.

HI,
I also have had problems with forms working. I found an excellent programmer for forms who uses PHP and can create anything you want. His email is: redhiker@comcast.net, and his name Aaron Carlton. See what he did for me on the site: and He can make simple ones or complex ones.
