Form Generator: Inconsistent Cache after creating 2nd version of appln

I just had the very bad idea of creating a second version of one of the applications in the Designer repository...
Ever since, I get the error message with "CDI-21600: inconsistent cache" when I try to generate an Oracle form based on any of the modules in the repository (even those that worked before, and including module from other applications in the same repository).

I am unable to drop that version 2 of the application (due to existing links with other applications in the repository)

Versions:
Oracle Designer (release 2.1.2) 7.0.2.24.2.0
with repository on Oracle 8.0.5.2.1

Any suggestions? (apart from capturing the design back from the dB and forms into a new instance of the Designer...)
