Hello
Some assistance please:
Scenario
I am creating a pro-forma agreement (and NDA) for a client. There are various elements of content that are mapped to customer document properties. So far so good; I've worked like this for more than a decade.
For this particular client I want to provide a form for the editable fields to be typed in at the front of the document. The form will be non-printing characters so as not to mess with the document print out. Again, so far so good. There is a table with the various labels and then the form fields in separate columns.
I then map the custom properties in the file->properties dialog to the value of these fields; using link to content checkbox.
However in order to make the form 'usable', I need to protect it (otherwise the field itself gets overwritten.
For some reason this stops the link to content functionality working.
unprotecting the form and updating the fields with CMD+ALT+SHIFT+U not only does not update the doc props but also zeros all the form fields.
Is that anticipated behaviour?
is there a better way to achieve this within the parameters below?
parameters:
I do not want to use mail merge functionality. Definitely not.
I need the doc props to have the data in them as there is a script that sweeps these periodically to update a database.
I need the form to be in the same document so that changes can be made and to keep the user experience _really simple_ for the user base.
i'd rather not use macros at all. some of my clients are configured to strip/disable macros on document load.
