form field as query criteria

I currently have Access 2007 as the front end(Access Data Project) for my server (SQL Server 2008). I am wondering how I would go about using a criteria selection from a form in the front end as a criteria for a query on the back end. I've been researching online and it looks like I would use a stored procedure, but I don't even know where to start. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
