Form Drop-Down having no effect on results

Hello

My form has several fields for user entry plus a a drop-down field with several placename options for the user to select, if they wish.

If the surname field is completed with 'Smith' then all Smith's are displayed, but if I select 'Smith' with the dropdown placename to Douglas, I still get just Smith's but all placenames given, not just Douglas.

I'm not sure whether it's the HTML, CSS or the background database which needs looking at - it's a long time since I did any work on this form.

Any help appreciated.

Not likely to be either HTML or CSS as neither would have a way of affecting any dynamically generated information in the form.

I don't even think its the background database, more likely it will be whatever programing language you are using to connect to the Database and extracting the data with.

Perhaps the dropdown has no actual connection to the DB to determine what to display.

I suggest you post in the forum for the programming language being used.

Well, it could be the HTML to blame - if the <select> element which holds the drop-down is outside the <form> element, it'll never get passed on to the script. But without a URL to look at we can't really tell.
