I'm relatively new to developing forms in Microsoft Access 2003. I have a project that automatically opens a form for data entry. This form is built over a table. If I add a new row to this table, and then add the new field to the form, the form will not open. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for all help and advice,
TracySHC

Hi Tracy, when you say automatically, what do you mean? It has been selected on startup, it's programmed on a Macro?

There is any VBA code running behind the form?

You say you are adding a new row but the field does not show? So have you added the field to the form in design view?

Yes, the form is selected on startup, display form. There is VBA running behind the form to open it in Maximum.

When I add the new row in the table, the field shows. I am also able to add the field to the form in design view (it's in the field list.)

The problem is, once I add the field to form in design view, I cannot open the form in Form view. If I close the project, then when I re-open the project, the form will not open at start-up.

Thank you for your responses,

I agree - odd! If I am receiving an error, I don't see it. Any ideas how to debug this?

What is the field name? Is it a reserved word? Can you create a new, blank MDB and import the form and appropriate tables/queries to see if it works in another MDB?

if you get a message box on the screen press Ctrl Break key (break is in the uper right of the keyboard (if you have a laptop you probably have to press the function key in addition to ctrl break) and then you should see a debug button click it if there is code and it is stopped on the the Resume line (red highlighted line)
Like Resume blah blah blah
put a single quote in front of the blah blah blah like so Resume 'blah blah blah
then press teh F8 key to single step. it should go back up to the code and stop on the problem line.

if you can't figure it out come back here to us with as much details a you can

Maqu1na, Dhookum, DougP,
Thank you for all of your suggestions. I had been adding the fields to the middle of the table, which seemed to be causing problems. I've since added the fields to the end of the table, and everything is working well.
Sorry for the bother, and thank you for all of your help,
TracySHC
