form: datasheet, error "... too many fields ..."

I am trying to create a form from a table. I want the form to look like the table except with some hidden fields. The table has 36 fields. When I try to make the form (AutoForm: Datasheet) I get the following error;

"The wizard is unable to create your form or report because you chose too many fields; please try again with fewer fields."

Is there a way around this error?

Don't use the wizard. Open the form in design view and drag all the fields there yourself.
