I have a Field on a Form from a Query.

It will only accept data entry on an existing record. When a new record exists, the field will not accept any data input. I must be missing a field setting somewhere, but can't find it.

Do you get an error message or a ding or just no response?

Did it every work?

Can you provide the SQL view of your query and the relationships between the tables?

What is the Control Source of the text box that doesn't allow entry?

If you view the datasheet of the record source, can you enter data into the field?

It is actually a control box and you are unable to enter data via the form or the query. What is strange is that if other fields have data entered for a new record, and the Form is closed & reopened - then the control box will all for the selection of data.

rwn,
You only answered about half the questions. I expect you are attempting to enter data into the child table when a record doesn't exist yet in the parent.

Either describe your record source SQL and table relationships or live with closing and reopening.
