Hi

Two questions

1. Is there a way to get into the tables etc... on a MDE databse. I have searched the internet sites but cannot find a solution if there is one.
2. When I open the database (MDB) a form appears and I have to close it to get into the tables etc..... Where can I stop this form from opening at Open Databse (cant seem to find where it is holding the command. just want to open databse and get straight into normal menus.

Thanks

Its ok solved this for number 2 basically in the File / privacy Options and Current databse you can take out the Display From and set it to none.

Any advice on 1 would still be good though.

Thanks

Hi colval,

an mde is usually created out of an mdb to prevent users from seeing/modifying the internal structure. What you could do - if you are the owner of the corresponding mdb, to create some continuous forms that may be opened by the user to see/modify the data in the tables.

But if you only have the mde I think there will be no way to do anything but execute.

Kind regards

Typically you can hold down a shift key when openning an Access file to view the database window.

I'm not sure why you can't see the table in your MDE unless they are set to hidden or possibly all data comes from queries.

There are all kinds of MDE de-compiliers for sale on the web, do a Google.

Typically when I create an MDE - I hide the tables. You need to go under tools/options/view tab to set it to display hidden objects.

Also - I've had necessity in the past to modify data behind the scenes in an mde created by someone else. I created an mdb - linked to the tables I needed in the mde - and voila - I have access to the tables. His original database was password protected - but by linking to it - I was able to bypass whateve level of security he had put on.

Hope it helps.

Hi and thnaks for the replies.

I have the MDB master which I ahve been able to get into all tables and modules etc...... On the master there is a form with a button called distribute and this creates the files for the MDE dB A few question sot my original

1. Kermit01de can you give me more explanation on how to make continous forms?
2. Also we changed some of the module code in the master, but when we make the MDE it reverts back to old code. I can link from another MDB into the MDE tables but I cant get into the code at all in the MDE, Any ideas?
3. Also I think the master as queries but I cannot see any. We are using Access 2010. Although I can see tables, forms reports and modules can the queries still be hidden in some way, if so how do I view them?

Thanks

Any ideas on the questions on the last posting anybody

Many Thanks

colval,

just create a new form (linked to a table) and set the property for "default view" to continuous form

Kind regards
