AIX 4.3.1. A dedicated application box for payroll/HR (still in final throes of installation). I have started to get: "fork failure - too many processes already running" when trying to access the system either via telnet or Oracle client. What establishes this limit, where is it kept, and can it be changed.
TIA,
Ed

There's a limit of processes per user.

The command [ lsattr -E -l sys0 ] will give you the current values and you can change it with [ chdev -l sys0 -a maxuproc='1000' ]

You don't need to know the command and can directly access a dedicated menu with [ smitty chgsys ]

Hope this helps,
Thanks a lot Patrice! I have been searching thru the IBM references pages until I get blue in the face without any luck! I was sure there was something like this, but it is never as easy to find as it is in Linux!
