Is there a way to get into an IPO if the password has been forgotten, without restoring factory defaults via the DTE port.

Not that I'm aware off. Before you do anything else (if anyone does have a method), look in the Manager program folder and make copies of any .cfg files, one will be the system's configuration the last time it was accessed from Manager.
