The root password on my box is gone. SCO Unixware 2.1. What can I do to get into that box....pronto!!!!

Thanks

boot from floppy, mount the usual / as something /mnt/usual_root, edit /mnt/usual_root/etc/passwd and delete the root password.

reboot as normal

at your own risk -- you could get some very strange results if your / partition is mirrored.... so take care

The analyst of our SCO Unixware version 7.1 as left without telling us what was the root password. We'll have to reboot the system pretty soon..is there a way to find what it was? if not, how can I regain acces to the root account ?

Thanks

Search thru the threads. I believe this is a popular topic.

You should find many threads on this subject. In fact someone should write a FAQ.
