I have forgotten my password for an IPC$ share. Can someone tell me how I go about restoring this connection? Do I need it or is there another way to connect to the server that I can enter a new password for? I'm not really sure what its for or why I set it up in the first place but it sure wont allow the 98 machine to logon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

I would guess you are using a win2k server with TCP/IP. The IPC$ share is for browsing network resources. I had the problem, and finally got mad and solved it by using netbeui for my connection. Not the "correct" solution, but I bet someone knows what security flag to change on win2k! Anyone? David Moore

The absolute simplest solution is to logon to the Win98 machine with the EXACT same USERNAME & PASSWORD that exists on the machine you're trying to connect to. It works!

Thanks guys, I have been trying to figure that one out forever!
