what happens if i forget the vmware virtual machine bios password. in a phisycal machine i would have to reset the machine's bios but in this situation don't know what i should do to start my machine.

for the record : i haven't forgot my password but i think at this method as a solution to protect my virtual machine from "intruders". this is the only solution that i came up for the moment.
i would i like to get an answer from you for the real question : "how do i recover the vmware bios password?"
but i'm also waiting for suggestions concerning another solutions to protect my virtual machines.

It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.
Thanks for your attitude!

are you talkig about ESX server?

you can erase the bios at all! just erase the file "nvram", but if someone can see the bios you have a bggest problem, how someone with no authorization (an intruder) see the virtual machine with no password to enter to VMWare?

I don't even know what Esx server is ... I use vmware workstation.
I what you mean about no autorization si that nobody should have password to my win 2000 account but first of all the password is public ans second of all the vmware virtual machine is just a file that can be copied to another computer or even used with another account (in case of non-public password). i will now have to try what you said about deleting the file ....

I don't even know what Esx server...

VMWare has 3 editions:

VMWare Workstation: for personal productivity
VMWare GSX Server: mainly for development (it requires a base OS as Win or linux)
VMWare ESX Server: for production purpose. it is installed directly to the hardware and no OS is required.

For "no autorization" I meant speaking of ESX Server and not apply Workstation, sorry.

Cheers.
