When I try to create a two-way forest trust between two 2003 (full forest 2003 level) I get the following error:

"Cannot create a file when that file already exists"

What could be the problem?

Have you seen this;

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

Yes, have seen that. Is not the case with us.

Ok, usually errors with trust creation are DNS related.

Are there any dns or netbios name conflicts?

How many domains are in each forest or are they single domain forests?

Anything in the event logs?

DNS is working fine and no errors in the event log (grr...)
Single forest single domain structure.

It's really frustrating.

If no other ideas, I will probably need to open a call at Microsoft.

Verify both Domains are at the same Service Pack Level/R2 versions

Do you mean all domain controllers have to have the same R2/SP level? (one of the forests has 35 dc's spread over the country!

I would believe this would only pertain to the two DC's creating the Trust. The Forest Prep/Schema extensions that were done in the beginning are updated when you add SP's or the R2 level. The Schemas in both domains should be at the same SP/R2 level.

Ok, will check that and come back to you.
Thx
