Hello all,
I need to be able to type with a french keyboard for work wich is fine now as I have a french version of xp. I want to upgrade to windows 7 , unfortunately windows 7 costs double in french than it does in english.

the question:

Can I type using a french keyboard in an English copy of Windows 7?

I do not need my pc to be faster I only want it.....

All Language packs are free for Windows 7. Simply install Win 7 in your default language, then when you first run Windows Update, you'll see about 35 language packs listed from Arabic to Ukrainian.

You don't even need a language pack, all you need to do is set the input language to french and the keyboard layout to French from the Language and Region control Panel icon and that's it.

If you want to change the display Language from English to French then you can download the Language Pack but its not necessary.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

The Language Packs tf1 is talking about, are only available for Ultimate and Enterprise editions of Windows 7!
Other editions can handle any language/layout for their keyboard, but the interface language stays the originally installed language.
