Every Windows OS machine I've had in the last twenty years has had
Avast installed from day one, it has caught everything the Internet has thrown at it, the signatures are often updated within hours of a threat being identified, because I get receive email from several "support@" and a few "catchall" mailboxes, getting eight or ten infected messages a day is normal, and every one gets stopped as
K9 loads the message and reads the content to flag the spam ones.
In that time not one of my machines has had any kind on malware and the only toolbars installed on my browsers are the ones I actually want and choose to have active.
Anyone who asks my opinion on "the best antivirus" is told to remove AVG, Norton's, McAfee, Especially the the "Security scan" that gets bundled with Chrome, Nero and a few others, (if anybody is having problems with Windows 7 running "Startup Repair" every few days, make that your prime suspect.) and install Avast.
Chris.
