Hi,

I have been given an Excel sheet for server CPU usage with the following columns in it: Day, Time, Value. I have used the Excel functionality to apply forecasting to this but it is not accurate enough for my needs.

Does anyone know of a forecasting algorithm I can apply to this data to allow me to more accurately predict our CPU Capacity?

Thanks,

Toddyl

Put two extra decimal places on the forecast numbers. That should do the trick.

Check into various Time-Series packages. These are often used for economic and quality control forecasting but could be applied to CPU usage. I cannot provide a recommendation at this time. SAS, SPSS and many of the statistical packages offer this tool. Also, there are specialists in this software genre.
