The above thread indicates it is possible to force an LSP site into LSP mode by simply changing the MGC to look at the LSP ONLY. That was w/regard to CM3.1 and I am on CM5.2 - still the way? And if so, how do you get the IP Phones to register to the LSP and not the main site?

Delete your default route in your routing table. This will keep the MGP from getting to the main call server.

If phones are configured using DHCP, the LSP IP address should be included (ex: MCIPADD=192.168.0.2,192.168.0.3, with 192.168.0.3 being the LSP). Otherwise, this can be configured in the 46xxsettings.txt file.

Can someone else say if i am right or not, but i was always under the impression that you DO NOT include the LSP ip in the DHCP scope, but defined in the network region form?

kite boy, you're right. it's on the ip-network-region form, page 2.

do not include the LSP in the DHCP scope.

So, I edit the MG list to remove the main site and then reset the MG - simple. But what will happen to the IP phones? Will they register to the LSP or to the main?

In order to test the IP phones completely, you will need to disconnect your WAN link at the LSP site.

I'm beating a dead horse - sorry. In thinking about what we want to accomplish:

We are having some bandwidth issues that is affecting call quality. Until that is resolved, we need to temporarily put that location into LSP mode. So, if that is done and the phones stay registered to the main site, will that matter since the calls will not traverse the network except for signaling?

Calls would still go over the link from site a to site b, calls local between phones at site b will not go across link and never should, if pstn access at lsp site, pstn calls should go out over local pstn circuit. Only calls that should go over link in first place is inter-site calls, and even in normal working the phones use local gateway for voip resource? sure someone will correct me on above, but think it is right!

The gateway at lsp site registers to clan at main site first, then has lsp as second controller, can the clan not be removed from MGC list from console/telnet on gateway?

Look into disabling the Network region that the phone and gateway are in on the Core Pabx. This should drop phones and gateway into LSP. Assumming that the NR are setup in a manner to allow this..
