Hi

Set the scene.....

Intranet based app on IIS4

I'm using FP98 (Not that that matters) and IE4 (Got no choice!).

Lists of documents for users to download.

The problem....

I'm currently using <A Href=&quot;...\abc.xls&quot;> to provide a link for documents that can be downloaded. However in some instances this opens the spreadsheet within the browser. I want the 'Save to' option to be forced upon the user.

I know this can be done, we have Cognos Datamerchant application on site which through a .cgi script forces the 'Save to' option.

Anyone any ideas on how I can do this without cgi????

Cheers

rename the file extension to something else (xl_) and ask the users to rename it back to xls

If it wasn't a link I would tell you to set the header tag..

Silver,

I would be interested listening about setting the header tag....as I am also trying to solve the same problem and have no limitation of having it as link.

Thanks
Nanda
