Folks I have a customer who has a network segment consisting of only pSeries servers running AIX 5.3. They need to be able to run a traceroute to another network across a firewall. It seems the firewall is allowing ICMP traffic but since *nix uses a mix of ICMP and UDP I am unable to get actual traceroute to work. I know you can force ICMP echo in other *nixes using the -I option but it doesn't seem to work in AIX. Is there any way to force AIX traceroute to use ICMP echo (other that forcing a particular port). Thank you.

Hi Khalid, thanks for that but as far as I know you can't tunnel ICMP over SSH.
