hello

I have two 3750 switches that I need to offer dhcp. Both are offering the same /24 address range, however I want one as a main and another as a backup. I would like the backup to wait two seconds before reply to the dhcp request thus forcing the first switch to make the offer, how can I do that?

Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe someone else here knows how to do that, I do not.

If you want DHCP server redundancy there a way to build redundancy into DHCPD in linux, so if you had two linux hosts you could probably work that out.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help on the cisco side.

My memory of DHCP resilience was to have two serving, one a primary with 75% of your address space and another with 25% so they don't overlap and both issue the same address. How you'd get one to respond first or create delays I do not know.
