I support several networks (both with WinXP SP3 clients and Win2003 SP2 servers)and deploy some software via Group Policy. Is there a product or tool that can have the workstation detect if no one is logged on and reboot automatically so group policies can be refreshed?

The only way I can think of doing this would be to use a shutdown -i to bring up the GUI for the shutdown process (it will do a restart), unfortunately it won't tell you whether a user is logged on or not.

I think you would need something like Hyena or have a look here.

for some further links.

For either solution you would need to be an Admin tho.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

gpupdate could do the job ( /boot), but it also cant tell u if a user is logged on, but a script should do the job

But can you remote a gpupdate, I thought that was only a locally run thing.
