I need to test some software I've written in an environment with a 256 colour screen, but XP only lets me choose between 32bit and 16bit despite the fact that 1600x1200x256 colours is a supported setting for my graphics card.

Does anyone know how to force XP to use 256 colours?

I think that's the default in safe mode. Not sure tho.

Is 256 available under Display properties, Settings, Adapter, Display all modes?

ummmm you may want to use compatability mode on the exe to use 256.

"Run in 256

Thanks, I didn't know about the "Compatibility mode", I was trying to do it via the Display properties > Appearance. Much appreciated.
