Force IE to open typed URL in new window

In the same way that <a href=”

http://www.mydomain.co.uk”

target="_blank">my website</a> in an HTML page would force the link to open in a new window, is there a way that you can force IE to open the URL that you’ve typed in the address bar in a new window, effectively forcing a target="_blank"?

If so, do you know what syntax I need to use?

I've tried various options and also the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" option in IE but that doesn't seem to work.

Typed into the address bar of an existing IE window? I don't think so. But you could always CTRL+N or CTRL+T (IE7-new tab) prior to typing the address.

The problem is that we have a browser-based accounts system that links with an browser-based document management system.

When you select the button in the accounts system, it loads the document management system to display the scanned image of the invoice that you had been viewing the details for, which of course loads in the same window.

Guess they'll either have to change the way the link from the accounts system works or use the back button in the browser.

Or change the button to a simple hyperlink and then they can do a Right Click and either open in new window or open in new tab...

I dont remember the commands but I remember certain commands like that. I have not did webpage stuff in years so I do not remember however I know of 2 pages which one of them will most likely have it if your up for some searching.
