From time to time, users of a certain Excel document on our server, leave it open which blocks others from making any changes to it (Read only).

Is there a way to close the open document, even without saving, if there is no activity from the person who opened it, say after 10 minutes or whatever time is appropriate?

Many thanks

Hi,

Yes, but it must be dome with VBA code.

Please post your question in forum707.

Can you make it shared?
Are you saying, make the document shared? If so, will this allow anyone else to close the document when someone else has it open?

No problem, I'll post it now

Shared allows multiple users to make changes to a document simultaneously.

Be aware that certain features are limited in this mode. Read Excel HELP very carefully in order to fully understand the implications & limitations of a Shared Workbook.
