Hi

I am creating a database in england and sending it to america. what happens is I have set the date format column to mm/dd/yyyy. When I view the data it is on english format (dd/mm/yyyy) but when i click into the field it changes to american format. If I change the settings on my machine to american the format just stays in english format. When you send the sheet to america from my english settings the format seems to stay in dd/mm/yyyy.

is there anyway I can make sure that the date format is stored and stays in mm/dd/yyyy.

The data is imported into the database in mm/dd/yyyy format.

First, you need to realize that all you are looking at is a format....a date is stored as a float. The integer portion is the number of days since 12/31/1899 and the decimal portion is the time of day. For instance, today at 10:52 am, your database will store that "date" as 39518.4527778.

So, if you will use an unambiguous date format when storing the data (yyyy-mm-dd), you shouldn't have problems with it converting to the wrong format.
