Hi,

i know this has been posted before but I can't find the post on tek-tips. I do have a copied version on my laptop but it's not working for me.

Am trying to force any call that's going into voicemail to use a specific voicemail box nr.

here's what was posted
1) Create a phantom extension (*xxxx or xxxx for all that matters). The * does not matter at this point.

2) On the extension you just created (phantom) add the extension numbers (key line) to the phone, but place a * infront of them. I.e. Ext. 5901 becomes Key Line *5901.

3) Lets say you have extensions 3412, 3413, 3414 and you want them all to go into 5901 (from above), you would call forward them (or re-route) to *5901

I've created a phantom extension (single line) 8000. I then created a key system dn *8000

I then call forward always *8000 to voicemail. Then any calls I want forwarded to voicemail I reroute to *8000 which in turn is always to voicemail.
No surprises it isn't working. Can someone please point out my errors.

Thanks,

When you call forward the extensions to anywhere and then the call gets to VM, the original extension number is tagged. That means the VM will direct the call to the mailbox that matches the digits of the original extension. If there is no such mailbox, the call be be answered by the system greeting.

I'm a bit sketchy here (it's been a bit since I have attempted), but you need to forward to either a ACD pilot number or an HG Pilot number that then gets sent to VM (I think it's ACD). That pilot number needs to be the mailbox number you want to use.

here's my scenario:

I have a few paths. On path unavailable I want it to go to voicemail. All paths to the same voicemail. my path unavailable nr is the acd path for voicemail that is interflowed to a phantom pilot nr.

in short initial path(s) 1000 - path for voicemail 2000

path unavailable for 1000 is dn 2000 which is my vm path.

path 2000 interflows to phantom ext 3000, 3000 is permanently routed to voicemail 500.

I get the auto attendant even though I have an extension 3000 and voicemail 3000. If I dial path for voicemail directly (2000) I get the mailbox.

Hope this is clear. writing the way I logically see it and programmed it.

thanks

What software rev and system do you have? The ACD path's unavailable destination has changed over the years.

create a name tagged hunt group and mailbox. use the hunt group as the path unavailable destination. that should work for you.

Check out the FAQ I created on this subject.

The FAQ refers to splitting one number into 2 mailboxes but the same theory / method for sending mulitple numbers to 1 mailbox.
